This month’s prompt is from My Journal, My Voice, a guided journal I wrote to support Family Shelter Service, a Chicago-area organization that brings crisis help and long-term healing to families contending with domestic abuse. If you are looking for the chance to explore, a little bit at a time, challenges of any kind, the book is available here

In journaling, it is important to forget freshman English class and the expectation of red pens and grades. Better to just write with abandon, to tell your story in the freshest way. If you like, revisit it after a week or two and jot down two or three things it helps you know. Don’t worry about length; the tale will be as long or short as it needs to be.
